The 54-year-old actor won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards for his role in the hit drama The Pitt. During his acceptance speech, Wyle expressed gratitude to his colleagues, cast, and crew—and made sure to honor his family.

“What a truly humbling moment,” he said. “Oh my goodness. I’m so incredibly grateful, and I don’t know how to fit 54 years of gratitude into 60 seconds.”

Wyle, referencing his children, added, “I’ve been supported by an incredible wife and three great children all along the way,” speaking of Owen and Auden, his kids with ex Tracy Warbin, and Frances, his daughter with Wells. He also thanked the Golden Globe voters, HBO Max, John Wells Productions, and healthcare workers worldwide. Before closing, he returned to his wife: “Lastly, to my beautiful wife, Sara, happy birthday. I hope you’re enjoying your party.”

Among Wyle’s fellow nominees were Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Diego Luna (Andor), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Mark Ruffalo (Task), and Adam Scott (Severance).

In The Pitt, Wyle plays Dr. Michael “Robby” Rabinovitch, an attending physician at a Pittsburgh hospital, with each episode depicting an intense hour of a 15-hour ER shift. In October, he told PEOPLE about the show’s impact on real-life medical professionals: “It helps them show their families the work they do every day, something they often can’t articulate. The empathy it gives their support network is invaluable.” This marks Wyle’s fourth Golden Globe nomination, with The Pitt also up for Best Television Series – Drama.

He has three Golden Globe nominations and won Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama in 2018 for This Is Us.

Diego Luna, 46, reprises his role as Cassian Andor in the Star Wars prequel series Andor. Luna described working in the Star Wars universe as “like a lucky kid suddenly playing in the playground of my dreams.” This was his third Golden Globe nomination.

Gary Oldman, 67, stars as Jackson Lamb in Slow Horses, an MI5 leader stuck with a team of failed agents. Oldman, who has five Golden Globe nominations and won Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama in 2017 for Darkest Hour, joked the role could let him “leave Hollywood with a bang.” Slow Horses is also nominated for Best Television Series – Drama.
